Melanie Kinser, Ph.D.

Over the last decade, Melanie Kinser has designed and delivered leadership development and culture change initiatives to universities, family-owned businesses, Fortune 500 and non-profit organizations in a wide range of industries such as Oil & Gas, Mining, Construction, Utilities, Nuclear, Healthcare, Interior Products, and Hospitality. She has deep experience working to strengthen the safety culture of organizations in heavy industry through a focus on leadership. Melanie has consulted extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Melanie partners with clients to select talent, develop leaders and to help align organizational culture with strategy. She has assessed hundreds of individuals to evaluate their strengths and development opportunities as well as determine their fit for specific career opportunities. Melanie focuses on translating complex topics into practical strategies that are realistic for her client’s demanding work environments. She specializes in leadership development, safety culture change, and integrated talent management. 

As well as consulting for Leadership Alliance, Melanie currently serves as Education Domain Leader on the Executive Board of the Society of Consulting Psychology (Division 13 of the American Psychological Association) and has taught executive education and leadership courses as an adjunct instructor for the Colorado School of Mines. 

Melanie holds a Master’s and Doctorate in School Psychology from the University of Missouri and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana. She has authored several articles in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences. Melanie was awarded the RHR International Outstanding Dissertation Award for her research and development of a competency model for leaders in higher education. Additionally, she served as a Fellow to the LEGO Imagination Lab Foundation in Lausaunne, Switzerland where she researched practical wisdom in leadership.
