Over the last decade, Melanie Kinser has designed and delivered leadership development and culture change initiatives to universities, family-owned businesses, Fortune 500 and non-profit organizations in a wide range of industries. She has deep experience working to strengthen the safety culture of organizations in heavy industry through a focus on leadership. Melanie has consulted extensively throughout the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Melanie partners with clients to select talent, develop leaders, and help align organizational culture with strategy. She has assessed hundreds of individuals to evaluate their strengths and development opportunities, as well as determine their fit for specific career opportunities. Melanie focuses on translating complex topics into practical strategies that are realistic for her client’s demanding work environments. She specializes in leadership development, safety and culture change, and integrated talent management.
She has consulted in various areas including talent acquisition assessments, leadership development, selection and succession planning, executive coaching, team effectiveness, and designing innovative and customized programs for training and development. Melanie holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Missouri and a B.S. from the University of Montana.
Her key accomplishments include:
- Melanie has served as on the Board for the Society of Consulting Psychology for over a decade. She has presented annually at the SCP Annual Consulting Psychology Conference as well as presenting as a Keynote at several professional conferences in Safety and Mining as well as for the State of Colorado.
- She helped to provide oversight and leadership to the Society of Consulting Psychology’s 2017 Revision of the Guidelines for Education and Training. This publication, approved by the American Psychology Association, provides guidance to individuals, organizations, and schools in training and preparing future consulting psychologists for real-world practice.
- Melanie served as a Fellow to the LEGO Imagination Lab Foundation in Lausaunne, Switzerland where she researched practical wisdom in leadership. Additionally, she has taught executive education and leadership courses as an adjunct instructor for the Colorado School of Mines.
- She was awarded the RHR International Outstanding Dissertation Award for her research and development of a competency model for leaders in higher education.

A Little Trivia About Melanie: After months-long international projects in Costa Rica, Spain, Australia, and Chile, Melanie has settled in Colorado with her family, as she loves the outdoors. She and her husband aim to sneak in as many powder days snowboarding as possible each season.
